Release Notes

Shumway SEO Toolkit changelog

Product changes for Shumway SEO Toolkit from the first local SEO audit through current v0.1.9.

Browser Changelogs

Each browser build has its own release page because Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari do not expose exactly the same extension APIs.

Chrome v0.1.9

Primary Chromium build with the full local SEO workspace and Chromium-only JavaScript toggle.

Firefox v0.1.9

Firefox build for Firefox Add-ons, with local downloads and Chrome-only APIs removed.

Safari v0.1.9

Safari Web Extension build inside a macOS app wrapper, with Safari-safe permissions and UI behavior.

0.1.9

Clearer empty JSON-LD diagnostics and reliability improvements - 2026-07-17

Schema diagnostics

  • Empty JSON-LD script blocks now explain that the block has no content and should contain valid JSON-LD or be removed, instead of showing Unexpected EOF alone.

Reliability and performance

  • Improved reliability across the workspace while preserving current navigation, filtering, sorting, settings, downloads, and export formats.
  • Reduced the content-layer payload while keeping the existing browser support and feature set.

0.1.8

On-demand link checking and richer technical diagnostics - 2026-07-16

Link checking

  • Added on-demand link checking for batches of up to 250 URLs with retry controls, rate-limit feedback, exact HTTP status codes, redirect results, and observed final destinations.
  • Added inline on-page link-status badges, status filters, clearer no-response and 4xx handling, persistent link sessions, incremental rendering, and link-status exports.

Diagnostics and settings

  • Added source-linked schema diagnostics and improved robots crawler filtering and breadcrumb validation.
  • Clarified accessibility-tree locations and improved issue locators with the best available page or source URL.
  • Added branded settings controls for HTTP status capture, PageSpeed auto-run, and Web Vitals cache management.

0.1.7

Web Vitals workspace with field, lab, and local performance data - 2026-07-10

Web Vitals

  • Added a Web Vitals workspace with local Core Web Vitals, CrUX current field data, CrUX history charts, PageSpeed Insights lab diagnostics, exports, and refresh controls.
  • Shows mobile and desktop CrUX history charts side by side by metric, so Mobile LCP pairs with Desktop LCP, Mobile FCP pairs with Desktop FCP, and so on.
  • Labels CrUX data as URL-level when Google has exact page data and sitewide when origin-level fallback is used.
  • Adds Web Vitals exports in copy, TSV, CSV, JSON, Markdown, and TXT formats.

Performance data handling

  • CrUX and CrUX History use Google's Chrome UX Report APIs for real-user field data where available.
  • PageSpeed Insights uses Google's PageSpeed API for synthetic Lighthouse lab diagnostics when users run it or enable auto-run.
  • Remote Web Vitals responses are cached locally so repeat views avoid unnecessary API calls, with a Refresh action when users want fresh data.
  • About, privacy, docs, and store copy now distinguish local page audits from optional Google performance API requests.

0.1.6

Deeper exports, robots groups, and accessibility tree controls - 2026-06-30

Export quality

  • Improved export coverage across Overview, HTTP Trace, Headings, Links, Images, Schema, Robots, Social, Style, page copy, raw audit output, rendered accessibility data, SERP previews, and image ZIP manifests.
  • Improved readable Markdown and text exports so reports scan cleanly while CSV, TSV, and JSON preserve full source values for analysis.
  • Added clearer selected-report download controls, left-aligned export actions, and tooltips that explain each export format and action.
  • Improved HTTP redirect and final-response exports with per-hop downloads plus combined all-entry downloads when multiple HTTP entries are available.

Robots and crawler review

  • Expanded Robots review with Core, Detected, AI Search, AI Training, AI User Retrieval, and Other crawler groups.
  • Added selected crawler-group exports with Core and Detected selected by default, stable group counts, de-duplicated output rows, Select All, Clear, and Download Selected.
  • Added richer robots export output for crawler access status, matched rules, allowed/blocked results, and tester results.
  • Changed the Robots navigation count to reflect detected robots.txt crawlers instead of the full known-crawler catalog.

Accessibility and schema review

  • Improved the rendered accessibility tree with schema-style multi-select filters, sorting, expand/collapse-all controls, clearer expanded details, and stable expanded state while sorting.
  • Improved accessibility issue locators so Copy Path and details include the best available URL or page URL plus DOM path, making issues easier to find and fix.
  • Expanded accessibility JSON output so available node metadata is included for deeper inspection.
  • Improved schema sorting and filter controls so expanded blocks stay open and filter labels scan cleanly.

0.1.5

HTTP tracing and cleaner page exports - 2026-06-25

HTTP and redirects

  • Added an HTTP Trace workspace section for status codes, response headers, server redirects, final response details, and copy/download actions.
  • Added local redirect labeling for HTTP redirects, JavaScript redirects, and meta-refresh redirects.

Page copy and exports

  • Added page-copy exports for readable rendered content in TXT, Markdown, HTML, DOCX, and ODT formats.
  • Added Page Copy download actions to the Exports screen and context menu.
  • Added clearer download actions for page images, live robots.txt files, sitemap URLs, robots test results, and inspected CSS.
  • Improved robots test-result exports so matched and ignored rules export into separate columns instead of spilling into extra cells.

Workspace behavior

  • Simplified the product around the in-page overlay workspace and removed stale popup and side-panel workflow references.
  • Improved the rendered accessibility tree so the preview starts with the first 100 semantic nodes and can expand on demand.
  • Added accessibility issue details with locator paths, fix guidance, and Copy Path actions.
  • Cleaned duplicated rendered link text from nested navigation links and improved link sorting stability.
  • Moved the webmaster-tools compare action to the main right-click menu and shortened the SEO Tools and Webmaster Tools menu labels.
  • Improved Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools shortcuts for compare and URL-prefix workflows.
  • Improved overlay open/close reliability, active-tab reload handling, and status-badge refresh behavior.
  • Improved Safari status badges so HTTP status codes show more reliably after page loads, including search result pages.
  • Polished filtered schema downloads, robots crawler testing, and custom user-agent handling.

0.1.4

Workspace polish and deeper exports - 2026-06-20

Interface polish

  • Polished the full in-page workspace with cleaner spacing, clearer section headers, compact controls, and less wasted space.
  • Polished Social, Style, Webmaster Tools, Tools, Exports, About, and Support screens for cleaner scanning and less vertical space.

Overview and exports

  • Expanded Overview with richer technical SEO visibility, including response headers, technical signals, discovery signals, source-vs-rendered checks, and review items.

Review workflows

  • Improved Robots testing with grouped crawler presets, custom user-agent testing, editable robots.txt draft testing, matched-rule context, clearer line highlighting, and downloadable test results.

SEO workflows

  • Added Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools shortcuts for opening property, indexing, inspection, and performance views.
